Black cherries, mulberries, leather, peppery herbs, and some mineral notes all emerge from the 2022 Château Moncets, a nicely balanced, concentrated, and medium-bodied Lalande that has nicely integrated acidity, ripe yet present tannins, and a good finish. Give it a year or three and enjoy over the following decade. The blend is 89% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, 4% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Malbec.
The 2022 Moncets has a clean and delineated bouquet with blackberry, raspberry and light iris flower scents alongside neatly assimilated oak. The palate is medium-bodied with sapid black fruit, fine grip and a little mocha toward the finish that delivers satisfying length. This is not bad at all.
Plums, paprika and cumin on the nose of this fragrant red. It’s fresh and juicy with medium body, good tannin bite, and a crisp, bright finish. Merlot and cabernet franc. Try from 2026.
