Tasting notes
The 2005 Kerres Piedirosso shows its age with an orange tint to its translucent ruby hues, as notes of balsamic-spiced cherry, ripe plum, sweet sage, quince, and dried florals lift from the glass. On the palate, silky textures host tart cherry with masses of inner floral and herbal tones, as saline-minerals slowly saturate the senses; yet there’s a lift here, which carries the Kerres effortlessly across the senses. The finish is medium in length, resonating on savory herb and spice overtones, with a lasting echo of ripe blackberry fruit. The 2005 is completely mature yet still amazingly fresh. It continues to open up in the glass nicely.

The 2005 Piedirosso Kerres is a softer, fruitier wine than the 2006. The floral, delicate style is attractive, but the 2005 lacks the intensity and weight of its younger sibling.
