Tasting notes
The 2018 QED Choice Function is slightly closed aromatically yet slowly gives up solid red and black fruits as well as violets, sous bois, and floral nuances. I love it on the palate, and it’s medium to full-bodied, with a seamless, layered texture, beautiful tannins, and no hard edges. Made from 100% Cabernet Franc, it’s a beautifully complex, textbook example of the variety. Drink it over the coming decade.

Bright, moderately saturated cherry-red. Aromas of cranberry, raspberry, red licorice, black pepper, spices and subtle herbs are lifted by a floral topnote. Juicy, spicy and sharply delineated, showing lovely spice and rose petal treble notes as well as a pungent herbal quality to the cranberry and raspberry fruit flavors. An electric midweight with energy, intensity and thrust, and a distinctive light touch. Finishes with firm, dusty tannins and rising perfume. A distinctly pretty, very dry, lean style of Cabernet Franc with the spine for mid-term aging. Will this wine gain in weight and pliancy or will it remain a bit ungiving?
