The 2013 Pinot Noir Bien Nacido Vineyard - Old Vine emerges from a parcel own-rooted vines planted in 1973. An exotic array of rose water, blood orange, mint, red currants and spices is incredibly alluring. Soft, pliant and also weightless, the 2013 is already quite expressive and should continue to drink well for at least a handful of years. These old Pommard and Martini clones have a lot to say.

Score 94/100 · Drink 2015-2023, Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate, Aug 2015

From 40-year-old, own-rooted vines, the 2013 Pinot Noir Bien Nacido Old Vine shows classic Bien Nacido minerality and saltiness to go with lots of violets, crushed flowers, dried spice and earth on both the nose and palate. Medium-bodied, supple and layered, it doesn't have the tannic structure of the Sanford & Benedict, but is beautifully balanced and nicely textured. It should drink nicely through 2023.
