2006 Corralillo Winemaker's Blend

The 2006 Winemaker’s Blend Corralillo is 80% Merlot with the balance Malbec and Cabernet Franc. Aromas of spice box, tobacco, espresso, and blackcurrant are Bordeaux-like. This leads to a structured wine with plenty of ripe tannin, savory flavors, and a lengthy finish. Give it 3-4 years of cellaring and drink this promising effort through 2021. The nature of Chile’s wine industry mitigates against small, boutique wineries. One of the few that comes close to qualifying is the biodynamically farmed Matetic winery.
