Score 91+/100 · Drink 2017-2024, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Feb 2016
The 2014 Pinot Noir Marine Layer is a selection of the best barrels in the cellar. Mid-weight yet tightly wound, the 2014 is going to need time, as it was just bottled. As opposed to most wines made from a barrel selection, the Marine Layer is blended with the ideal of looking for the most lifted and ethereal barrels in the cellar. As such, the wine is really built on energy, precision and length as opposed to size. The long, salivating finish just adds to the wine's considerable appeal.
