2009 Calluna Vineyards

Bright ruby-red. Shows dark fruit, licorice and dark chocolate aromas similar to those of the Calluna Vineyards Cuvee but comes across as a bit mellower. Then more pliant in the mouth if still a touch clenched. Delivers more breadth and dimension--and a touch more sweetness--than the Calluna Vineyards Cuvee, but still in a classically dry, youthfully medicinal style. The dusty tannins build on the finish, which displays very good lift and length. This wine should continue to fill in with more cellaring; in fact, I'd let it rest in the cellar for a couple more years before pulling the cork. (14.3% alcohol)
