Based on direct-pressed Grenache, the 2024 Patelin de Tablas Rosé is the lighter and more Provençal of the Tablas Creek rosés, opening with a lively and pretty nose, featuring subtle herbal accents set against aromas of watermelon rind. The palate is straightforward yet refined, with impressive precision and concludes with an energetic, zippy finish. It's composed of 68% Grenache, 28% Mourvedre, 3% Vermentino and 1% Counoise.

Lovely purity to the cherry aromas and flavors, which are joined on the fresh, vivid palate by oranges, spices and a lingering seam of minerality. Very good concentration and texture, ending on a savory sweep. Drink now.
68% Grenache, 28% Mourvèdre, 3% Vermentino. 1% Counoise. Provence-inspired. Fruit is direct pressed except for 10% which sees around 12 hours of skin contact. Tablas uses a rolling ferment on this – they start with whatever is picked first, then add new juice as other varieties come in. Fermentation ends up lasting about a month. According to Jason Haas, this extra time on fermentation gives them extra texture due to lees. Fermentation peaks at around 72 °F/22 °C. Pale salmon. Mineral, but lightly leesy with restrained strawberry fruit. Very provençal. This has a slight super-fine-grained sandiness as well as a roundness to the mouthfeel that is not ripeness but rather lees. Very fresh finish. (SCJ)
