Score 95/100 · Drink 2020-2040, Robert Parker, Jan 2016
This blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Cabernet Franc and the rest Merlot and Petit Verdot has beautiful, sweet blackberry fruit with cassis, chocolate, tar and earth. It’s thick, full-bodied, powerful and masculine. Even though it’s Stags Leap, this is a big, muscular, backstrapping wine to forget about for 5-6 years and drink over the following 25 or more.

Dark raspberries, plums, flowers, cinnamon and mint meld together in the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Reserve. Here the aromas and flavors are brighter and more lifted than in the 2011. The long, expressive finish leaves a lasting impression. The French oak is noticeable, but seems better balanced than the 2011.
