Score 89/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2010
Ruby-red. Aromas of plum, currant, tobacco, mocha and dark chocolate, with an element of dried herbs and a whiff of smoked meat emerging with air. The palate offers a supple texture and a restrained sweetness, with slightly wild flavors similar to the aromas. Not especially complex but nicely fine-grained and suave, with good energy and an Old World funkiness. Finishing with ripe, building tannins and good length.
