2001 de Trafford Syrah 393

Good bright, full ruby. Knockout nose combines candied black raspberry, mocha, violet, pepper and gunflint. Lush, sweet and floral, with enticing inner-mouth fruitiness and perfume. A big, rich, fruit bomb of a syrah, in a style reminiscent of California wine. Nicely lifted by a note of violet pastille, and wears its 15.5% alcohol gracefully. Finishes with sweet tannins and terrific persistence.
