The 2014 Pressac, now in bottle, has quite an intense, almost opaque bouquet that needed some time in the glass to open. It eventually reveals black cherries, scorched earth and dark chocolate aromas that probably could be a little more detailed. The palate is medium-bodied with supple ripe, cedar-infused black fruit. It exerts a gentle grip in the mouth, with a pleasant saline touch towards the finish. Enjoy this over the next 8-10 years.

A gorgeous wine, the 2014 de Pressac is dark, bold and voluptuous. Dark cherry, plum, bittersweet chocolate, smoke, lavender, sage and licorice all run through it. Deeply expressive, pliant and succulent, the 2014 will drink well with minimal cellaring. The dark, flamboyant style works beautifully here.The blend is 69% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Franc, 9% Cabernet Sauvignon plus dollops of Malbec and Carmenère. Tasted two times.
An inky, powerful wine, the 2014 de Pressac offers up a compelling mélange of crème de cassis, pomegranate, brioche, smoke, new leather and dark spices, all in a sleek yet powerful style. There is plenty of flavor intensity and opulence throughout. A spine of firm yet beautifully integrated tannins carries the fruit through to the finish. The 2014 presents a striking combination of ripe fruit and pulsating energy, which is basically the essence of what makes this vintage at its best so attractive. I imagine the 2014 will de ready to go with minimal cellaring. The blend is 69% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Franc, 9% Cabernet Sauvignon plus dollops of Malbec and Carmenère.
65% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Franc, 11% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Pressac, 2% Carmenère. Colour of elderberry juice, black core. Lots of oak spice on the nose and a sweet toastiness. The oak seems to have given a hardness to the palate. A bit tough at the moment but maybe it will come round – there is certainly plenty of substance. (JH)
