Score 90/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous
(this was blended late and bottled in September 2001) Bright ruby-red. Rich, slightly reduced aromas of roasted meat and smoke. Then lush, sweet, consistent and deep, with sappy acidity giving the wine a chewy quality. Almost exotic on the long, ripe back end, finishing with hints of crystallized fruit. Very satisfying, seamless barbera.
