Certainly fully mature, the 2007 Gigondas (80% Grenache, 15% Syrah, and 6% Mourvèdre) reveals a ruby/plum color as well as classic Southern Rhône blackberry and mulled cherry fruits as well as gorgeous fennel seed, peppery garrigue, cured meats, and subtle cedar aromas and flavors. With full-bodied richness, a dense, rich mid-palate, sweet tannins, and a great finish, it's a smoking good, classic, sexy Gigondas in every sense. This bottle needed a good hour in a decanter to start to show at its best and should continue drinking brilliantly for another decade from cold cellars.

One of the top wines I've ever tasted from this estate, the 2007 Gigondas remains a tour de force. There's a lovely mix of red berries and grilled meat on the nose, followed by a full-bodied wine that's supple in feel, wonderfully balanced and elegant. The merest hint of chocolate appears on the long, silky finish.

Opaque ruby. Aromas of red and dark berries, smoky herbs, apricot and dried flowers. Spicy, finely etched black raspberry and bitter cherry flavors are framed by dusty tannins and lifted by a zesty mineral note. The minerality builds and carries through a long, spicy, focused finish. This one is built to reward patience. (Michael Corso Wines, Chicago IL

Saturated ruby. Complex nose offers an array of fresh red and dark berries, flowers, garrigue and minerals. Elegant and restrained, with sweet raspberry and cherry flavors, gentle tannins and good lift. The floral and mineral notes resonate on the long, juicy finish.
