La Morra. Maturing mid ruby with orange tinges. Savoury spice and sweet cherry building a complex nose. Juicy yet austere on the palate with lots of finely ground tannins that stay underneath the fruit. Full yet still a little backward on the palate. (WS)

The 2020 Barolo Brunate is very nicely done, not to mention quite an improvement over the challenging 2019. It offers terrific mid-palate depth and resonance. The gravitas of Brunate is evident, and yet the 2020 gives the impression of a wine that will drink well with minimal cellaring. Hints of leather, spice, tobacco and dried flowers are suggestive of a Barolo that is headed towards its first plateau of maturity.
