Tasting notes
Deep purple-hued, notes of darker currants, sappy tobacco, and graphite emerge from the 2024 Château Fonbadet. Based on 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot, brought up all in barrique, it's medium-bodied and pure, with elegant detail, solid mid-palate depth, ripe, soft tannins, and plenty of early accessibility.

Delivers softly-spoken red and black fruits, a little austere but I like the brambled blackberry feel, and soft white pepper spice, has some Pauillac typicity in an early drinking style. Owner Pascale Peyronie, 44 hl/ha yield, harvest 26 September to 8 October, 55% new oak.
The 2024 Fonbadet is another terrific wine from proprietor Pascal Peyronnie. Pliant and creamy, with terrific depth, the 2024 is seriously impressive. Dark cherry, plum, spice, new leather and incense are beautifully amplified. All the elements are so well balanced. The blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot is excellent.
The 2024 Fonbadet has an attractive floral bouquet with plenty of black cherry, wild strawberry fruit and nicely integrated oak. The palate is medium-bodied with plenty of fruit, a fine lattice of tannins, substance and poise on the finish. This is an excellent Pauillac. For the price, it's one I would seriously consider.
