From a mix of parcels (4 hectares) near the new Château, just beside Angelus, the 2024 Mazerat is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc aged 16 months in 80% new oak, with malolactic in barrel. It's a smoking wine that has ripe black cherry and darker currant notes intermixed with graphite, scorched earth, and orange blossom-like nuances. It's medium to full-bodied, has a pure, layered, elegant mouthfeel, ultra-fine tannins, and a great finish. It plays in the more mid-weight style of the vintage yet has wonderful purity and precision.

High levels of extraction, making the oak fairly evident, less generous than in some years, but this delivers estate signature and deep berry fruits in a vintage where it wasn't easy to do. 80% new oak. Last year with a plot of vines planted in 1947, harvest 1 to 7 October. 3.78 pH, 32hl/hha,

Dark chocolate to the herbal black plums and cherries. Structured with dusty tannins. Medium- to full-bodied, this shows good length and depth of fruit.

The 2024 Mazerat was picked October 1 to 7 from vines planted in 1947, and was aged in 80% new oak for a planned 16 months. There is a touch of reduction on the nose, along with scents of black cherry and boysenberry. The palate is medium-bodied and fresh with powdery tannins, a keen line of acidity and gentle but insistent grip on the finish. This should age nicely in bottle.
