A mix of red and darker berry fruits, with a little red cherry and plum, maybe a subtle hint of redcurrant too. There’s a natural sweetness to this on the attack that you don’t quite anticipate from the rather taciturn aromatics. Quite a narrow frame giving this more of a sense of impact. Quite linear too, but never strict. A hint of hazelnut and, with it, a certain creaminess. A touch of its signature iron minerality too. The tannins are fine-grained and this is well managed even if it doesn’t quite set my pulse racing.

A blend of 58% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 12% Malbec, the 2024 Château Bouscaut shows impressive darker berries, cassis, graphite, gravelly earth, and fireplace notes. It's medium-bodied and round on the palate, with nicely concentrated fruit and ripe tannins.

The 2024 Bouscaut is especially fresh and elegant this year, wafting from the glass with aromas of dark berries, menthol, spices and flowers mingled with gently oaky notes. Medium to full-bodied, sappy and supple, it has a juicy core of fruit, perfectly integrated new-oak notes and a bright, precise finish. This blend of 58% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Malbec is a great effort within the appellation.

Starts off with fragrant leafy aromatics, chalky tannins, fresh fig and cassis bud flavours with gentle spiced herbs, carefully constructed but still struggles to show the depth and concentration of Bouscaut in most vintages.
