I find the 2022 Ultreia La Claudina to be a lot more subtle and elegant. It comes from a vintage when the vines delivered very healthy grapes and a larger crop. They had to wait to harvest the grapes because the higher yield meant the plants had problems to ripen all the fruit. The palate is elegant and fresh, with clean flavors and precision. 2,300 bottles produced.

The 2022 Godello La Claudina from Bierzo is aged in a single old foudre . Raúl Pérez calls it “a good year” because the foudre was filled. The 2022 shows biscuit, wafer and white flower notes with a light, nutty character. Aged on lees with bâtonnage, it is creamy, broad and lean-structured despite 13.5% alcohol. It delivers mid-weight richness, juicy freshness and a long, flavorful finish.
