2023 Graacher Domprobst Kabinett

To be auctioned in November the 2023 Graacher Domprobst Riesling Kabinett #1 (Versteigerung) is very precise and refined on the flinty and bright nose, which is not as dark as the Domprobst normally is. On the palate, this is a juicy, savory, stimulatingly saline, playful and complex Domprobst with intense yet discreet and noble fruit and highly refined and crystalline acidity. This highly finessed and elegant Domprobst is very mineral and playful yet also layered on the palate and made to be aged for decades. 7.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in August 2024 from AP 1 24.

AP number 01 24. Riper and less fumy than the Schloss Lieser version – apricots and peaches, as well as spicy complexity. Rich and creamy, deep and so accessible it is easy to miss the quality. Lovely harmony. Non-sweet honeyed aftertaste. (JH)

The 2023 Riesling Graacher Domprobst Kabinett is a little shy on the nose. The palate is light, pure, wonderfully citric and elegant. There is something utterly seductive about it that captures all the senses, almost by stealth. Its lightness and purity are otherworldly. The finish is pure lemon, long and serene. (Medium)
