Tasting notes
Medium red-ruby color. Complex nose melds raspberry, currant, leather, pepper, coffee and fresh herbs. Sweet, high-toned flavors of blueberry and black raspberry, with a peppery element that does not cross over into greenness. This boasts a sappy sugar/acid balance and lovely intensity. Finishes with ripe tannins and very good length.

I have had better examples of Pride Mountain’s Cabernet Franc than the 2004, which is somewhat green and light compared to other vintages, with austere tannin in the finish. Nevertheless, some attractive menthol, blueberry, white chocolate, and licorice notes are present. While it is very good, more texture and succulence would have resulted in a higher score. Drink it over the next 5-7 years. Previously recommended: 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve (96+), 2002 Reserve Claret (97+). Tel. (707) 963-4949; Fax (707) 963-6039
