Tasting notes
The 2020 Sparkling Chardonnay Brosseau Vineyard is immediately expressive and explosive, offering pear, peach and slightly oxidized yellow apple tones. On the palate, however, the wine tightens considerably, turning coiled, phenolic and deeply grippy, with an almost red-fruited impression that recalls cranberry skin and sour cherry. Slate, crushed rocks and a hint of mint linger through a long, savory finish. Almost tannic in feel, this is very much a wine for the dinner table. Dosage is 2 grams per liter. Disgorged: May 2024.

The 2020 Sparkling Chardonnay Brosseau Vineyard comes from own-rooted vines planted in the 1980s. Grapes were harvested in late July, and the wine was disgorged in May of 2024. It has intense aromas of flint, peach, honey and chaparral. Light-bodied and dry, the palate balances deep, savory flavors and creamy mousse with gently tangy acidity, and it has a long, seamless finish.
