Good full red-ruby. Sweet aromas of black cherry and spicy oak. The richest and ripest of this trio of wines, with the most sweetness and depth to its brooding black fruit flavors. This really spreads out to saturate the palate. From a true hillside site, and typically picked first.

The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Treva’s Vineyard exhibits more scorched earth/burning ember characteristics intermixed with attractive red and black currants. Its aromatic and flavor profiles are reminiscent of a Graves wine from Bordeaux. Deep and full-bodied, it tastes like it is of volcanic origin with its smoky, scorched earth character. It also reveals more sweet oak than its two siblings. Drink it over the next 20 years. These wines were first brought to my attention when Mark Herold was the consulting winemaker, but the 2007s were finished by Thomas Rivers Brown. Saturated medium ruby. Complex aromas of black fruits, minerals, crushed rock and flowers. Suave, fine-grained and fresh; this saturates the mouth with flavor but the overall impression is one of restraint and elegance. Finishes with broad, fine-grained tannins and a lovely light touch. A captivating wine in the making: this should enjoy a long life in bottle but also offer early appeal.
