Made mostly with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc in a supporting role, the organic Tenuta le Colonne 2021 Bolgheri Superiore was shut down initially during my tasting. Hopefully, enough time has passed by now for the wine to fully stretch its legs. It offers a medium-plus texture with dark fruit flavors and black plum that are not over-extracted or too thick. Despite the shyness of the bouquet, the wine does a good job of achieving balance overall.

The 2021 Bolgheri Superiore is laced with juicy dark cherry, plum, sweet vanillin, orange peel and coffee. Pliant and expressive, with good depth, this Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend offers lovely immediacy in a forward, easygoing style meant for near- and medium-term drinking.
