Tasting notes
A crisp, austere nose with a saline thread and a gentle floral touch of white blossoms. The palate shows delicate loureiro fruit that’s linear and elegant, supported by an austere phenolic texture. A blend of alvarinho and loureiro. Drink now.

70% Loureiro, 30% Alvarinho. Lemony, herbal, bright, a little bit stony. Excellent freshness and lightness of body but not insubstantial. Good name and a very good intro to the Minho. Tight and mouth-watering, lovely dry finish. (JH)
The 2022 ALLO (the "AL" being 30% Alvarinho, the "LO" referencing 70% Loureiro) is dry and comes in at 11.6% alcohol. A touch tart, this has a little mouth-pucker on the finish in its youth. It is plainly a blend aiming for acidity more than concentration. There's a fair bit of power and that fresh feel that so many love about Vinho Verde (at Soalheiro, to be clear, there is no fizz). What this lacks just now is better integration of its parts and some expressiveness. It doesn't truly do justice to either of its components, but I suspect a month or two more of bottle aging will help that along. It should hold reasonably well, not that most will want to hold it past next summer.
