Score 96/100 · Robert Parker, Apr 1999
A wine of awesome extraction and richness, this powerful behemoth was aged in 100% new American oak for 12 months, and bottled unfiltered. The natural alcohol is a whopping 15.7%, but it is totally hidden by the wine's extraordinary concentration and intensity. The opaque inky purple color is followed by the blackberry/blueberry fruit spectrum, intermixed with pepper, spice, and licorice. Extremely full-bodied, with remarkable symmetry for its size and concentration, this wine coats the palate, and has a finish of well over 40 seconds. The bad news ... sadly, only 25 cases made it to the United States. Importer: Peter Weygandt, Weygandt-Metzler, Unionville, PA; tel (610) 486-0800
