Score 17.5/20 · Drink 2025-2033, Tamlyn Currin, jancisrobinson.com, Jan 2025

Full bottle 1,315 g. Certified organic (Ecocert). A blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Castet, Carignan, Syrah, Manosquin and various Muscats. One-third is from the free-run juice of just-crushed, dark-skinned grapes after a short maceration and two-thirds is from direct pressing. Aged (separately) for nine months in wooden vats. Gloriously deep colour. It smells of tomato jam, watermelon, rhubarb candy, blood orange. Full-bodied and succulent. Garishly candied richness playing mischievous tug-of-war with musky, bosky undertones and a flinty core that feels as if it's a knapped stone tool. Bitter glitter of black salt. And then circling back to blood orange, tomato, watermelon. Tingling with life and energy, despite its considerable weight and power. A magnificent wine. (TC)

Once again this year, Château Simone has crafted an exceptional rosé. The 2023 Palette Rosé, made from a blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Castet, Carignan, Syrah, Manosquin and various Muscats, presents a complex and dense bouquet of red berries, spices, blood orange, grapefruit and strawberries, enhanced by ethereal menthol notes. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and round in texture, it’s sappy with a delicate phenolic mid-palate that transitions into a long, penetrating and saline finish. Ideally suited for pairing with food, this rosé can also benefit from cellaring for up to 5 to 10 years.
