Tasting notes
Tobacco, cedar spice box, fall leaves, graphite and mentholated herbs form a gorgeous bouquet as the 2007 Sancta Catharina blossoms in the glass. This is surprisingly juicy and fresh. Vividly ripe red fruits and saline mineral tones add a grippy sensation toward the close. The 2007 finishes potent, more youthful than its years and still structured, yet its tannins are sweet, complicated by a tart tinge of blackberry and citrus. Fantastic. This is a blend of 30% Sangiovese, 30% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot.

The estate's 2007 Sancta Catharina is a blend of Prugnolo Gentile, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot that was aged in French oak. In this vintage the wine is remarkably harmonious and well-balanced with no hard edges and terrific balance. The generous dark fruit carries through all the way to the long, rewarding finish.
