Tasting notes
From a site just beside Screaming Eagle, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Tench Vineyard sports a dense purple/plum color to go with classic Tench notes of red and black currants, Asian spices, iron, sandalwood, and Christmas spice. These carry to a full-bodied Cabernet with plenty of mid-palate richness, lots of spicy nuances, building tannins, and a great, great finish. A sweetly fruited, sexy 2018. it has plenty of up-front appeal yet more than enough structure to evolve for 25+ years.

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Tench Vineyard is an intriguing wine. Inky blue and black fruit, licorice, new leather, chocolate and lavender give the 2018 notable darkness and plenty of intrigue, all wrapped into a medium-bodied frame. Readers familiar with Tench know the site is very rocky in the front blocks, while the soil becomes progressively heavier moving away from the Silverado Trail. The Riverain Cabernet emerges from the middle portion of the vineyard. While it doesn't have the size of other wines from this site, it offers impeccable balance and tons of class.
