Tasting notes
The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges La Richemone 1er Cru has a more extrovert, riper bouquet than the Les Cras, featuring vivacious red cherry, orange pith and wild strawberry aromas. Hints of rose petal develop in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied and candied in style, offering succulent red cherry and strawberry fruit and touches of blood orange and yuzu toward the cohesive finish. Excellent.

17 ares (0.42 acres) = 2 pièces. Adjacent to Aux Cras. 100% whole bunch. Used to be Aux Boudots. Now you can no longer blend Aux Cras and Richemone and call it Boudots – at least it is not authorised in writing. Barrel sample. Has similar ripe black cherry as Aux Cras but is more vibrant and lifted, perhaps a touch more floral. There’s finesse here in the tannins, dry and elegant and not really what the nose predicted. Spicy and just a bit stemmy on the finish. A bit too stemmy overall. (JH)
