Score 93/100 · Jay S Miller, Wine Advocate, Oct 2007
The 2004 Admiral’s Reserve Shiraz is more structured and muscular. It will need a few more years to reach its peak but it is not significantly better than the far less expensive “regular” bottling. Cape d’Estaing rates 100 points for its breathtaking location on Kangaroo Island south of Adelaide. The fruit is entirely sourced from a 25-acre estate vineyard located on the north coast of the island. Importer: Dan Philips, The Grateful Palate, Oxnard, CA: www.capedestaingwines.com.au; Also tasted: 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon (78), 2004 Admiral’s Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon (82)
