Tasting notes
Sourced from three vineyards and all Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Cor Leonis is a step up and offers stunning crème de cassis, graphite, white flowers, and vanilla aromas and flavors. With classic 2017 focus and precision, full-bodied richness, fine tannins, and a great finish, it's another head-turning, classically styled wine that's going to age easily for 20-25 years or more.

The 2017 Cor Leonis is another impressive wine in this range from Moone-Tsai. Ample, creamy and enveloping, the 2017 is showing beautifully today. Super-ripe red cherry, plum, cedar, licorice and new leather add layers of nuance. There is so much to like here.
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Cor Leonis, made entirely of Cabernet Sauvignon, comes from three of their best sites and was aged in 75% new oak. Very deep garnet-purple colored, it is a little closed to start. The nose slowly unfurls to reveal notions of warm plums, baked blackberries, boysenberries and black currant pastilles with hints of tree bark, cigar box and wild sage plus a touch of cloves. Full-bodied, the palate has great purity and fantastic structure with a firm, finely grained texture and seamless freshness lifting the intense flavors to a long finish. Impressive! 400 cases produced.
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Cor Leonis is another promising wine from Moone-Tsai. Vertical in its expression and overall, the 2017 has a lot to offer. An exotic mix of dark fruit, bittersweet chocolate, ink, cloves and licorice runs through this super-expressive Howell Cabernet Sauvignon. I can't wait to taste this from bottle.
