Medium red. Spicy strawberry and raspberry aromas are precise and brightened by suave minerality. Brisk and elegant, with bright red berry flavors, a subtle floral pastille note and fine-grained tannins. Fills out on the finish, picking up a jammy note and displaying outstanding length.

A top-notch red wine is the 2005 Pinot Noir Kanzler from the Sonoma Coast. Beautiful peppery, spicy, forest floor, and underbrush notes intermixed with sweet black cherry and blue fruits jump from the glass of this dark ruby/purple-tinged Pinot. Sweet tannin, medium to full body, considerable complexity, and an up-front appeal suggest it will be at its finest over the next 5-6 years. Tel. (707) 833-0212; Fax (707) 833-1164
