Lastly, the 2018 Pinot Noir Platt Vineyard saw 25% stems as well as 25% new French oak. From a site on the Sonoma Coast, this translucent ruby-hued effort has textbook notes of ripe red and black fruits, pine forest, orange peel, and violets. Firm and focused on the palate, with good acidity and plenty of structure, it's another wine that's not for those seeking instant gratification. Give bottles 2-4 years and enjoy over the following decade or more.
The 2018 Pinot Noir Platt Vineyard is a wine of mesmerizing beauty. Sweet floral notes, spice, blood orange and red/purplish berry fruit are some of the many notes that race through to the finish. In the glass, the 2018 is exotically perfumed, silky and layered, with tremendous pedigree and breathtaking complexity. Powerful yet light on its feet, the Platt has so much to offer. It is a thrilling, alluring wine that will leave readers wanting more. The 2018 is a total knock-out.
