Score 98/100 · Drink 2021-2035, Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, Feb 2021

The inky, teeth-staining 2018 Hoffmann Dallwitz comes from the oldest Shiraz vines in the sections allocated to Sami-Odi (planted 1927 and 1888–1912). It exhibits lively floral aromas, hints of peppery spice and vanilla bean, plus intense notes of blueberries and blackberries. Medium to full-bodied (labeled at 14.4% alcohol), it delivers masses of flavor without excess weight and tremendous concentration without excess ripeness, finishing dry and savory, with hints of espresso and dark earth on the long finish.
