Score 90/100 · Drink 2016-2022, Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate, Aug 2016
Leading off the Pinot Noirs, the 2014 Pinot Noir Brosseau Vineyard coms from the limestone (there’s also a touch of decomposed granite) soils in the Chalone AVA, which sits to the east of the Santa Lucia Highlands. Destemmed and aged just under 12 months in 61% new French oak, it offers outstanding notes of spice box, singed herbs, licorice and black cherries in a classic, mineral-laced and nicely concentrated style. Drink bottles through 2022.
