Score 88/100 · Drink 1997-2005, Robert Parker, Jun 1996
A tightly-knit, more restrained and firmer-styled Zinfandel, much of this 1994's appeal comes at the back of the mouth. There is a mineral and black-raspberry-scented nose, rich, dense, black-cherry and raspberry flavors, medium to full body, excellent purity, and a spicy, long, structured, stony finish. This classy, potentially complex Zinfandel should be given 6-12 months of bottle age and drunk over the next 7-8 years. Has anyone else noticed that Cakebread is making better and better wines?
