Tasting notes
The deep ruby/purple-hued 2002 Mataro Pato Vineyard (75% Mourvedre from 106-year old vines and 25% Zinfandel) offers up complex aromas of briery red and black fruits, loamy, dusty, earthy notes, pepper, and blueberries. A layered, medium to full-bodied texture is accompanied by sweet tannin as well as surprising opulence. One of the finest old vine Mourvedres I have ever tasted, it is no shy wine with 15.9% alcohol. Enjoy it over the next 7-8 years. Tel. (408) 867-3233
