Tasting notes
(100% chardonnay from the Bien Nacido vineyard): Hazy gold. Wild, complex bouquet evokes pear skin, nectarine, macadamia nut and marzipan, with an oak spice note that gains strength with air. Ripe and broad but lively, with deep orchard and pit fruit flavors showing very good clarity and spiciness. Finishes long and sappy, with very good cut.

The 2009 Chardonnay Ode to Sunshine, from the Bien Nacido Vineyard, wraps around the palate with layers of tropical fruit. Despite its textural richness and volume, the wine shows plenty of acidity and fabulous overall balance. This racy, sleek wine from Sanguis is best enjoyed while the fruit is vibrant. Ode to Sunshine spent 22 months in French oak barrels, 50% new.
