Tasting notes
The 2001 Carmignano Riserva Piaggia opens with a wonderfully mature bouquet, blending dried violets, mint and balsamic spice with dried berries and dusty earth. It's cool-toned and fresh within as bright acidity propels ripe red and hints of blue fruit. Saline minerals and a tinge of ground ginger embellish the close. Nuances of sous-bois and cedar persist as this tapers off with staining length and potency.

The 2001 Carmignano Riserva is simply a mouthful of unflagging gratification, perfectly focused and potent in its expression of berry fruit, vanilla, cedar, and cloves, deep and enveloping in flavor, lusciously ripe and velvety from the attack to the exceptionally long finish, the classic iron fist in a velvet glove.
