Tasting notes
The 2016 Honey Bunny is in a bit of a shy phase aromatically, but it has the balance and intensity to continue to blossom in bottle. A blend of 93% Syrah and 7% Mourvèdre, it has a vibrant ruby-purple color and blue fruits with wafts of graphite, grilled meats, licorice and laurel. The palate is rounded and plush, with bursts of freshness elevating its floral perfume, and it finishes with fine detail. Give it another 3-5 years in bottle.

The 2016 Honey Bunny is another terrific wine from winemaker Connor McMahon. A blend of 97% Syrah and 7% Mourvèdre, it sports a glass staining purple color as well as a powerful bouquet of crème de cassis, vanilla bean, smoked meats, and spice. It’s incredibly rich and opulent on the palate, and certainly not for those looking for lightweight aromas and flavors, yet it stays balanced, has solid purity of fruit, and plenty to love. Drink this sexy fruit bomb over the coming 4-6 years. These are big, rich, powerful wines from Connor McMahon. While I’d like to see a touch more finesse and elegance in some of the wines, they certainly bring the power.
