Soft, earthy, round, seductive, silky-textured, and hedonistic, the 2003 Syrah Stagecoach Vineyards offers a luscious mouthful of Syrah. It is not meant to be an intellectual wine, but rather one that should be drunk with uncritical enjoyment over the next 3-5 years. Tel. (707) 257-7555

Bright ruby-red. Blackberry, menthol and tarry, spicy oak on the nose. Juicy, sweet and creamy, with black fruit flavors perked up by a late kick of cracked pepper. The firmest of these 2003s, even a bit dry in a positive way. Finishes with dusty tannins. An intriguing set of wines by a producer specializing in small lots of syrah from hillside vineyards.
