Tasting notes
(from 100% destemmed fruit, as the stems here stay green, according to winemaker Justin Wylie): Bright ruby-red. Captivating, rather wild nose offers scents of black raspberry, mocha and brown spices. Plush and sweet in the mouth, conveying lovely finesse of texture to the dark raspberry, spice and licorice flavors. Finishes a tad tart but with ripe tannins and excellent subtle length.

More spice-driven than the Les Collines, the 2013 Syrah Black Label Lewis Vineyard has abundant notes of mulled blackberries, ground herbs, cured meats and toasted spice to go with a full-bodied, nicely concentrated, yet always fresh and pure style on the palate. It too will have 10-15 years of overall longevity.
