Tasting notes
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Dollarhide Estate Vineyard had a small part of the blend fermented in barrels and spent 19 months in 66% new French oak before being bottled. Its deep ruby/purple color is followed by a rich, concentrated, slightly reserved 2014 that has lots of blackcurrant, toasted spice, earth and espresso aromas and flavors. With medium to full-bodied richness, impressive mid-palate concentrated, ripe tannin, and outstanding length, it’s an impressive 2014 that will last for 10-15 years.

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Dollarhide Estate is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in 66% new French oak for 19 months with 10% barrel fermented. This is firm, structured, closed and somewhat austere at present and may have just gone into bottle the way it was showing. It has lots of toasty oak, rather formidable tannins, which is unusual for a 2014, a dense ruby/purple color, a hint of coffee, blackcurrant and blackberry. However, the wine was very tight and closed. This will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and last 20 or more years.
