Tasting notes
The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon District Collection Howell Mountain is 100% Cabernet from clone 4, and is relatively limited with only 225 cases produced. Opaque purple with loads of mulberry, graphite, barbecue smoke, licorice and chocolate, the wine is ripe, rich, concentrated and long with low acidity and wonderfully velvety tannin. This is already drinking beautifully and will continue to do so for at least 15-20 years.

Raymond's 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain, from a site planted on volcanic ash, shows the more opulent side of the appellation in its super-ripe, inky fruit. Graphite, smoke, lavender and crème de cassis are all pushed forward. Plush, dark and inviting, the 2013 offers plenty of depth in an relatively approachable style for Howell Mountain. This full-throttle Cabernet should drink well with minimal cellaring.
