Score 93/100 · Drink 2016-2036, Robert Parker, Dec 2016
The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon, which comes from the Stagecoach Vineyard, is a beauty. Powerful notes of black and red currants, dusty, loamy soil undertones, some licorice and forest are followed by a full-bodied, dense, powerful wine that is set to go the distance of 15-20 years given its high extract, power and tannic clout. This is a big, generous, but classic high-elevation Cabernet Sauvignon to drink over the next two decades.

Maze's 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Maze is deep, powerful and super-concentrated, but these young vines can only do so much. Green, underripe tannins and a kick of alcoholic heat point to the limits of what was possible here.
