Tasting notes
The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Mountain comes from several stellar vineyards in the appellation, including Kiona Heart of the Hill and Klipsun Vineyard, with 2% Cabernet Franc and aged in French oak, a majority new. A swelter of rich black fruit dominates, showing the richness of the region while striking a balance between ripeness and freshness, ending medium to full-bodied in style. The tannins are strong and present but don’t get in the way of a velvety mouthfeel accented in dried herb, graphite, and leather. Drink 2025-2037.

The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Mountain is blended with 2% Cabernet Franc. Matured for 20 months in 75% new French oak, initial wafts of new oak spice give way to red and black cherries and currants, licorice and dried herbs. The full-bodied palate features a concentrated core of fruit, though its ripeness is pleasantly restrained. It’s light on its feet with soft, grainy tannins and mouthwatering acidity, and it has a long, spicy finish. 325 cases were made.
Depths of crushed raspberry and spice are complemented by dusty rose and hints of clove as the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Mountain evolves in the glass. This displays silken textures and ripe wild berry fruits, coming across as soft and round with a mineral tinge that forms toward the close. Dusty tannins linger as the 2022 finishes with dramatic length and noticeable concentration, leaving resonances of black currant.
