Tasting notes
The 2012 Range 30 West Happy Canyon Of Santa Barbara checks in as a blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc that spent 22 months in barrel. It has a juicy, forward and delicious style to go with lots of plum, chocolate, violets and a touch of violet on the nose. Medium to full-bodied, ripe, rounded and lively, with moderate tannin, it's should drink nicely on release and over the following 5-8 years.

Bright ruby. Pungent aromas of cassis, dried cherry, smoked meat and musky herbs. Fresh, tangy and pliant, offering musky, herb-tinged dark berry and bitter cherry flavors along with a gamey quality. Bright acidity adds cut to the smoky, persistent finish, with the cherry and game notes repeating. In a distinctly Old World style that some California wine lovers might find too funky.
