The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Sacrashe Vineyard is inky, dark and powerful, but also not fully put together just yet. Black fruit, chocolate, licorice and lavender add to a feeling of brooding intensity that is front and center. I very much like the wine's vertical intensity and overall feel.

A barrel sample, the opaque purple-black colored 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Sacrashe Vineyard is a little youthfully mute to begin. The nose offers subtle wafts of red and black currants, black cherries and kirsch plus pencil lead, wild sage, damp soil and unsmoked cigars. The palate is full-bodied, firm and chewy with taut fruit and a restrained, mineral-laced finish.
