Score 92/100 · Drink 2025-2040, Audrey Frick, jebdunnuck.com, Dec 2025

The NV Champagne Grand Cru Ambonnay Brut Rosé pours a medium pink hue with a tinge of bright orange. It boasts a potent and expressive nose on opening, jumping from the glass with savory notes of licorice, fresh cherries, and orange peel, with floral and spiced layers emerging as it gains complexity with air. Medium-bodied, but with a good sense of volume on the palate, it's ripe and inviting, with notes of black and red fruits filling the palate with a supple richness of texture. Black cherry fruit lingers on the finish, accompanied by hints of violets. There's quite a bit going on here, and it can stand up to richer foods, while maintaining elegance from its assemblage without feeling overly fleshy or structured. Drink 2025-2040. This release is crafted from the 2022 vintage with 30% reserves from 2019 and 2020. Composed of 80% Pinot Noir (9% of which is red wine that was aged in barrel and does seem to impart its character into the resulting wine, adding a good deal of aromatic depth) and 20% Chardonnay, it was disgorged February 2025 with 7 grams per liter dosage.

A bright pink color, the NV Champagne Grand Cru Brut Rose is 80% Pinot Noir (8% of which is vin rouge) and reveals notes of poppy red pomegranate berries, clementine, crushed chalky earth, and powder. Zesty and medium-bodied, it has good intensity and a dry feel, with a lively mousse and a rather long finish. It’s going to drink well over the coming 6-8 years. Disgorged May 2024, 6 grams per liter dosage.

The NV Champagne Brut Rosé is 80% Pinot Noir (10% vin rouge from 2016) and the remainder Chardonnay. It is lifted with a perfume of strawberries and cream, peach rings, and fresh flowers, and the palate is medium-bodied and refreshing, with an energetic mousse and a clean, modest finish. More tangerine citrus and a bit of salinity appear on the finish. This is a lovely entry rosé to drink over the next 10 years.

Disgorged in May 2018, the latest release of the NV Brut Rosé Grand Cru offers up notes of smoky red apples, Griotte cherries and mandarin. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, powerful and vinous, with ripe acids, a youthfully frothy mousse and a tangy, mouthwatering finish. This is a gastronomic rosé—dominated by Pinot Noir from Ambonnay—that would work well at table.
